I own several Outdoor Research Backcountry Organizer storage bags for years and think they should be a part of everybody’s gear inventory.

Outdoor Research Backcountry Organizer

I say this because these organizers are a flexible method of storing smaller containers for a variety of applications.  Of the four I own, one is in my car, one is allocated for my (worksite) office, and two are for overnight stays.  Each of these configurations are optimized for a specific application, the Outdoor Research Backcountry Organizer works great for all of them.  I’ve been very happy with how they have become a part of my life.

In the past, I have used cheap organizers that I have purchased at swap meets and Army surplus stores.  These however, are worth the extra money. The inner pockets are great for storing containers, toiletries, or other items.  Plus, these organizers are water resistant, which is a good feature to have in wet environments.  The zippers have worked flawlessly after years of use and there are no rips or tears in any of mine.  The quality of materials and assembly is outstanding, mine have seen a lot of use over the past decade and have held up great.  They come in three different sizes too, meaning you can get the right size for the amount of gear you need to pack.  I’ve used both the small and medium-sized ones depending upon configuration.

Pros:  Quality materials and workmanship, durable yet lightweight.

Cons:  Cost more than other organizers, only one color scheme available.

If you are somewhat obsessive about organizing, like I am, you will enjoy these.  OR has done a great job with this line of equipment, just as they have with other items in their inventory.  If you don’t own one of these already, give one a try and see how much you love it.  My guess is you will be buying another Outdoor Research Backcountry Organizer soon thereafter.
