I own several Princeton Tec Pulsar II LED lights and think they are very useful items to have for everyday use. One might say this is the little light that could…

Princeton Tec Pulsar II
Many years ago I purchase one and attached it to by backpack when I went on camping and hiking trips. It was intended for emergency use only since I had other, larger lights available. In fact, I considered the Pulsar II little more than a cute novelty light and mostly kept it in my desk drawer at home. However, lately I have added these to several of my kits including:
- Everyday Carry
- Backpack
- Work Kit
- Home Office
I do this because sometimes I need just a little light (7 grams!) and don’t want to carry around a larger flashlight. For a long time, I used a Maglite Solitare as my EDC and Work light. However, the Pulsar II produces a lot of light (10 lumens) in a tiny package that is good enough for my needs.
Even though it is small, the Princeton Tec Pulsar II is a tough unit made from quality materials. The shell is plastic but I have never felt like it was ever in danger of breaking when I used it. Its water-resistant too so I don’t worry about getting it wet when I am out and about. The Pulsar II is also relatively inexpensive and Made in the USA.
Pros: Bright light in a small package
Cons: Sometimes turns on when light touches another object
The only problem I have with this light is that when its on my key chain, it sometimes brushes up against a key or other item. This causes the light to blink on momentarily, which can be distracting. However, its light weight and small size make it easy to carry…which is why it is my EDC light of choice.
