A few weeks ago, I decided to try a new method of starting fires.  After some research I chose Super Cedar Firestarters because they appeared to have a lot of good attributes.

I’m glad I did!

Over the past week, I have used these to start fires .  They work really well, so well that I will use them instead of newspaper and kindling like I have been.  I think these are a superior way to light a fire compared to other methods.

I say this because they burn VERY clean and don’t leave burnt paper embers like newspaper does.  Also, there is no unpleasant odor like most liquid firestarters have.  They are small too, you only need one disc to start a fire.  This means you can have a season’s worth of Super Cedar discs in a relatively small package, unlike other methods like fatwood and starter logs.  Plus, independent tests show that Super Cedar burns cleaner, hotter, and longer than other methods.

Pros:  Small package that is easy to light and burns cleanly

Cons:  Pieces fall off when unwrapping disc, making them slightly messy

Because of the small form factor, I am adding these to my go bag, car kit, and camping gear.  They can be cut into smaller pieces with a knife in case a smaller fire is required.  Overall, I am extremely happy with the Super Cedar Firestarters and recommend it to my fellow preppers, campers, and outdoorsmen.
