During an emergency a supply of clean, safe water is a necessity. However, most suburban dwellings don’t have cisterns or other water storage systems built-in. Barrels are sturdy yet take up a lot of space and are unwieldy. What about a WaterBOB?

The WaterBOB is a Bathtub Oblong Bladder (BOB) made from food-grade plastic that can store about 100 gallons of water. It fits in most bathtubs and is filled by the bathtub spigot via a plastic hose. The WaterBOB can also be filled with filtered or purified water from other sources. A siphon pump and hose are used to dispense water into smaller containers when needed. Its keeps the water clean and available for up to four weeks and sells for under $30.
The WaterBOB is used when there is an impending threat to the water supply (e.g. hurricane). It can be filled beforehand and be ready in case of an interruption. However, until it is used, the WaterBOB fits into a relatively small box which can be stored in a closet or other location. That’s one great aspect of this product, it doesn’t take up a lot of space like barrels do.
Why should you get one? I got mine because I wanted a safe way to store a lot of water without filling up my garage. Humans can’t live more than a few days without water, so having a supply on-hand during an emergency is a necessity. Having a bulk storage container like a WaterBOB along with bottled water, purification tablets, and filters provides redundancy too. Water is life, so having an adequate supply is essential.
